Doctor Hassan is the founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Maternal Fetal Associates of the Mid-Atlantic, LLC (MFAMA). He is an established leader in the field of Maternal Fetal medicine in the Washington Metropolitan area and prides himself on providing friendly and personal care while being at the forefront of breakthrough medical technologies.

Originally from Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Moustafa Hassan came to the United States to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, then a Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine. He quickly became known in the field of Maternal Medicine for his publications, his dedication, and his expertise. Over the years, Dr. Hassan has become well known nationally and internationally, where he also is invited to give lectures about state of the art ultrasound techniques and has received numerous awards.

Dr. Hassan’s unstoppable energy and passion creates a positive environment to showcase the best MFAMA has to offer. His dedication and experience over the last 32 years has inspired many doctors as well as patients. As the founder and CEO of MFAMA, Dr. Hassan has consistently raised the bar for standards of excellence, and nothing less than perfection is acceptable in the care he provides and inspires others to give.

One of Dr. Hassan’s earliest achievements is the establishment of a high level perinatal center at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. His perinatal planning is still the framework of perinatal management at Holy Cross Hospital and other area Hospitals.

Doctor Hassan’s areas of expertise are wide and diverse and cover all aspects of perinatal medicine, however, he has special interest in ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis of fetal malformations especially fetal heart malformations. In addition, to the management of high risk pregnancies, such as recurrent pregnancy losses, preterm birth, Hypertension, and Diabetes, Dr. Hassan is one of the first physicians to start performing Nuchal Translucency and first trimester screening in the Washington Metropolitan area. He was awarded one of the first certificates for performing Nuchal Translucency by the Fetal Medicine Foundation in London, England. Additionally, he is certified by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program (NTQR) of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine in USA.

Dr. Hassan serves as Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and Virginia Common Wealth University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, The American Medical Association, The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hassan is a known international speaker in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine and has participated in many international conferences and workshops for physicians. He is known for his expertise in fetal echocardiography and fetal doppler.
