Our History
Established in Maryland in1999, MFAMA has worked to provide professional, compassionate and comprehensive maternal and fetal care. Our first office opened in Northern Virginia in 2002 and demand for our services has outpaced our capacity for a single location. Although we started with just one office, we have expanded to four locations and four hospitals served in Northern Virginia. Drs. Hassan, Elkousy, and Jessie have many years of combined experience in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine and have developed strong relationships with local Obstetricians and Midwives. We continue to provide the highest level of care for both high risk and healthy pregnant women.
To maintain the standards of excellence women and their Obstetricians have come to rely on, all of our ultrasound technologists are registered diagnostic medical sonographers (RDMS) and MFAMA is one of the few practices in Northern Virginia with AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) certification for obstetric ultrasound as well as Fetal Echocardiogram. All of our physicians and ultrasound technologists are certified by either the fetal medicine foundation or the NTQR (Nuchal translucency Quality Review) for first trimester ultrasound screening, and they have all been certified for Transvaginal ultrasound cervical evaluation by CLEAR (Cervical length Education and Review) or Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF). Of course, all of our physicians are board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine.
We help community obstetricians by providing consultation and co-management of high risk patients when admitted to any of the following hospitals: HCA Reston hospital, HCA Stone Spring hospital, INOVA Loudoun hospital, INOVA Fair Oaks hospital.
